Tax Inclusion Program Introduces Tax Awareness Early in Schools

The Tax Inclusion Program, a collaboration between the Directorate General of Taxes, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, incorporates tax material into curricula from elementary schools to universities. The program was rolled out nationwide in 2025.
Tax revenue funds essential public services such as infrastructure, health care, social assistance, and education. During the 2020‑2030 demographic bonus, the working‑age population (15‑64) will represent about 70 % of Indonesia’s total population, creating a need for greater tax awareness among young people. Embedding tax education in schools aims to build understanding of tax as a mandatory contribution to the state.
By fostering tax literacy early, the program seeks to improve future tax compliance and strengthen the country’s revenue base. The expected outcome is more effective fiscal policy implementation and a heightened sense of civic responsibility for national development.
