DJP Selects Surakarta for Elementary Tax Awareness Pilot

The Tax Authority held an audience with Surakarta’s Education Office on 19 November 2025 to discuss a pilot program that integrates tax awareness into elementary schools. The pilot will be implemented in 25 selected primary schools.

Tax awareness will be embedded within the existing curriculum rather than added as a separate subject, emphasizing values of responsibility, independence, and contribution. Surakarta was chosen because elementary school participation reaches 99.9% and more than 54,000 students are enrolled.

Education officials said the program aligns with character education goals, and the Tax Authority expects it to foster a tax‑paying culture that improves future compliance.
