Indonesia’s Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that unemployment stood at 7.46 million people in August 2025. This represents a decline of about 4 000 persons compared with August 2024. The figures were announced at a press conference in Jakarta.
In August 2025 the working‑age population reached 218.17 million, an increase of 2.80 million from the previous year. Of this, 154 million were in the labour force, with 146.54 million employed, including 98.65 million full‑time workers and 36.29 million part‑time workers. The labour‑force participation rate was 70.59 %, slightly below 70.63 % in August 2024.
The drop in unemployment indicates stronger job absorption across key sectors, while the Indonesian economy expanded 5.04 % year‑on‑year in Q3 2025. Growth was driven by robust household consumption and a rebound in exports, supporting new job creation.
