The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia had 7.46 million unemployed persons in August 2025, representing 4.85% of the total labor force of 154 million.
Unemployment fell by 4,092 people compared with August 2024, lowering the open unemployment rate from 4.91% to 4.85% and affecting both male and female workers in urban and rural areas.
The decline signals a modest improvement in the labor market; employed persons rose to 146.54 million, including 98.65 million full‑time workers, 36.29 million part‑time workers, and 11.60 million marginally employed.
