West Jakarta Tax Office Monitors Virtual Office Compliance
October 17, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

On 17 October 2025, the West Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes announced tighter oversight of companies operating from virtual offices. The statement was made during a public consultation forum and the launch of the Taxpayers Charter at the Harmoni Auditorium.
The virtual‑office model has grown since the COVID‑19 pandemic because it provides a business address without a permanent physical space. As many taxpayers adopt this model, the West Jakarta office is coordinating with all Jakarta tax offices to verify the actual presence, responsible officers, and documentation of each company.
The supervision does not prohibit virtual offices, but requires a clear address, registered managers, and complete records. Leveraging data from government agencies and internal systems, the tax authority aims for more transparent compliance and smoother assessment of tax‑refund claims.
