Most Crazy Rich File Tax Returns On Time, 20.1 Percent Late
October 23, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) recorded 172,000 annual tax returns (SPT) for fiscal year 2024 filed by high‑wealth individuals (HWI). Of these, 20.1 percent were submitted after the deadline, while 79.9 percent were on time.
HWI are subject to a 35 percent income‑tax rate because their earnings exceed IDR 5 billion, as stipulated in Law No. 7/2021 on tax harmonisation. The filing deadline for individual returns is 31 March with a penalty of IDR 100,000, and for corporate returns 30 April with a penalty of IDR 1 million.
The compliance level reflects a roughly 10 percent rise in the number of HWI in 2024, although their overall tax contribution also includes income taxed at final rates. DJP will continue oversight, legal enforcement and targeted education for this taxpayer segment.
