How to Cancel a Deceased Person’s NPWP When No Estate Remains
October 22, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) says that heirs may request deletion of an individual’s NPWP after death. The request is allowed when the deceased left no estate or the estate has already been distributed. The announcement was made on 22 October 2025.
Deletion can be submitted electronically via the Coretax system or manually at the nearest tax office, as stipulated in PER‑7/PJ/2025. The taxpayer’s representative must be a blood relative or spouse appointed as a representative for undistributed inheritance (WBT) and must prove identity with an ID card or family card. Required documents include the deletion request form, a death certificate or official death notice, and a statement confirming no estate.
This provision helps families settle the deceased’s tax obligations when there is no remaining estate, keeping tax records current. Offering both online and offline submission options provides flexibility for heirs to complete the administrative process.
