Health Insurance Premium Debt Waiver to Start End of 2025
November 5, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Indonesian government will erase all outstanding BPJS Health premiums by the end of 2025, announced Minister of Social Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) in Jakarta. The measure aims to reactivate the membership status of participants with arrears.
The debt waiver will be carried out through a re‑registration process for BPJS Health participants, funded by a Rp20 trillion allocation from the state budget approved by the Ministry of Finance. The plan has been discussed with President Prabowo Subianto and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
The initiative seeks to strengthen the social safety net for vulnerable groups and improve future premium compliance. BPJS Health is urged to enhance claim management to ensure the sustainability of the national health insurance system.
