Finance Minister Discusses Gold Tax with APPI
October 27, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa met the Indonesian Jewelers Association (APPI) at the Ministry of Finance in Jakarta on 27 October 2025. The discussion focused on implementing Ministerial Regulation No 48/2023 concerning income tax and VAT on gold jewelry sales.
Regulation 48/2023 sets a VAT rate of 1.65 % for gold traders without a tax invoice and 1.10 % for those with a complete invoice, aiming to simplify compliance and ensure fiscal fairness. The rule also provides legal certainty and incentives for taxpayers to join the tax system.
Through the differentiated rates, the government seeks greater participation of gold‑jewelry businesses in taxation, which can boost state revenue and support job creation in the sector. This aligns with broader policies to enhance the competitiveness of the national jewelry industry.
