DJP Threatens Asset Seizure for Uncooperative Tax Defaulters
October 27, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

On 27 October 2025, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa confirmed that the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) is actively collecting from 200 large tax defaulters. DJP’s Director of Outreach, Rosmauli, said some taxpayers are uncooperative and warned that the agency could resort to ‘gijzeling’ (asset seizure).
The collection follows Ministerial Regulation No. 61/2023, which outlines procedures for tax recovery. DJP may block bank accounts of board members, commissioners or owners, and can seize, immobilize, or auction assets if cooperation does not improve.
By early October 2025, DJP had recovered IDR 7 trillion from 84 defaulters, while total arrears total IDR 60 trillion. These enforcement actions underscore the tax authority’s push for fiscal compliance and could affect the liquidity of large enterprises.
