Court sentenced CV TH manager to 2.5 years, IDR4.75 billion fine

The Ambon District Court on 29 October 2025 sentenced the defendant identified as HS, manager of CV TH, to 2 years and 6 months imprisonment and a fine of IDR 4.75 billion. HS was found to have deliberately failed to remit Value‑Added Tax (VAT) on timber sales to PT MEI and PT KMI in 2019.

The unpaid VAT caused a loss of state revenue amounting to IDR 1.18 billion. The penalty follows Article 39 paragraph (1) of Indonesia's General Provisions and Tax Procedures Law (UU KUP).

The ruling aims to reinforce tax compliance and encourage taxpayers to fulfill obligations honestly. The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes for Papua, West Papua and Maluku urged taxpayers to seek guidance if tax regulations are unclear.
