Local Governments to Exchange Data with Tax Authority to Boost

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) reported that the tax‑revenue optimization agreement with hundreds of local governments generated an additional Rp202.82 bn up to Q2 2025. The increase consists of Rp26.84 bn for central tax and Rp175.98 bn for regional tax.
Bimo, head of the Taxpayer Partnership Section, said data exchange between DJP and local governments strengthens joint oversight. The government is drafting a law to lower the VAT rate and is reviewing the final income‑tax scheme for construction services as large‑scale projects decline. DJP is also preparing a tax‑center regulation to boost cooperation with universities.
The revenue boost highlights the fiscal benefit of data collaboration. Potential VAT cuts and PPh final revisions could affect tax burdens and consumer purchasing power.
