Hundreds of Local Governments Sign Tax Data Sharing Agreement

On 15 October 2025, Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) and Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) signed cooperation agreements with 109 local governments in Jakarta. The agreements cover the exchange of tax data between the central and regional authorities. The signing ceremony was attended by officials from DJP, DJPK and the participating local administrations.
The group comprises six provinces, 32 cities and 71 regencies, including 32 new participants and 77 renewals. After the ceremony, the total number of local entities with DJP‑DJPK agreements rose to 527, leaving 19 still without a pact. DJPK Director Askolani said the move supports the optimisation of Regional Original Revenue (PAD), which currently represents only 30 % of total regional income.
Tax‑data sharing is expected to broaden the tax base and increase the number of taxpayers at the regional level. Closer coordination between central and regional tax systems aims to harmonise fiscal policy. This could raise PAD’s share of local budgets in the future.
