Government Strategy to Boost National Economic Growth in 2025

Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara announced on 24 October 2024 that the government is proposing a 2025 fiscal strategy to accelerate national economic growth. The plan aims to use the state budget more effectively and allocate funds to priority programmes. He said the initiative reflects the first year of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
From the start of 2025, the Ministry of Finance has been trimming the budget and concentrating spending on priority items, including an APBN allocation of Rp3.5 trillion and a liquidity placement of Rp200 trillion in banks. Savings are redirected to free nutritious meals (MBG), People’s Schools, and village cooperatives. The policy also seeks to strengthen the investment climate through structural reforms and human‑resource development.
Suahasil stated that the accelerated spending should act as a catalyst for economic activity, generate jobs, and reduce poverty. The government estimates that directing about 14 % of GDP to eight priority programmes will boost national competitiveness. He expressed confidence that this adaptive fiscal strategy will sustain growth momentum despite a dynamic global economic environment.
