Finance Minister Receives Rp10 Million Bribe Claim on PKP

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa received a complaint on 25 Oct 2025 that tax officers asked for a Rp10 million bribe to facilitate a PKP registration. A service company in Karawang reported being directed to an insider and charged the amount to speed up the application.
PKP (Taxable Entrepreneur) status is required for businesses with turnover above Rp4.8 billion or for voluntary applicants to collect, remit, and report VAT. In this case, tax officials allegedly offered the service through an intermediary for a fee, which the complainant described as a bribe.
Purbaya announced that the Finance Ministry’s Inspectorate General will investigate the matter independently, rather than the Directorate General of Taxes. The move signals the government’s intent to safeguard the integrity of the PKP process and curb corruption in tax administration.
