Jakarta, October 22, 2025 – Finance Minister (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa responded to West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi’s denial that the province holds Rp4.1 trillion in bank deposits, a figure previously cited by the ministry. Purbaya made the comments to reporters on Wednesday, October 22.

Purbaya explained that the amount comes from Bank Indonesia’s monitoring system, which aggregates daily reports from commercial banks, not from internal estimates. He noted that the same data had been referenced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, indicating consistency across ministries.

The exchange underscores that each regional government must verify its own reported funds, while Governor Mulyadi said he is ready for an audit by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK). The issue may affect transparency of regional finances and future inter‑governmental transfers.
