Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced a plan to boost state revenue from the forestry sector on 29 October 2025 in Jakarta, after signing a memorandum of understanding with Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni. The MoU formalizes a commitment for closer cooperation between the two ministries.

Purbaya said the revenue potential could reach hundreds of trillion rupiah if forest governance improves and digital data are exchanged efficiently. The memorandum of understanding provides a legal framework for data sharing and coordination that previously faced obstacles.

The resulting income will be recorded as non‑tax state revenue (PNBP) and can be reinvested in law enforcement and forest ecosystem restoration, aligning with the President’s directive to maximize forest benefits for the public.
