President Prabowo to Issue Inpres on Using Idle Assets for MSMEs

Minister of Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar said on 8 November 2025 in Jakarta that President Prabowo Subianto will issue a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on the use of idle assets (assets not currently in operation) by MSMEs. The Inpres is intended to serve as a policy framework for optimizing unused public facilities.

The initiative aims to accelerate MSME scaling and broaden market access, with the Laswi Heritage Bandung site owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) slated as a pilot example. Since MSMEs account for roughly 61 % of Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), leveraging idle assets is expected to boost economic contribution and job creation.

UMKM Minister Maman Abdurrahman affirmed his ministry’s readiness to coordinate with the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment for curation and support, ensuring product quality and adequate financing. The measure underscores the government’s commitment to create formal growth space for MSMEs and enhance their role in the national economy.
