Kutai Barat DPRD Forms Palm Oil Task Force to Address Tax Arrears
November 8, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Kutai Barat Regency, East Kalimantan, established a Special Committee (Pansus) for the palm oil sector on 8 November 2025. The committee’s mandate is to tighten oversight of tax compliance among palm oil plantations and cooperatives in the area.
Chairman Oktovianus Jack reported that several palm oil companies and cooperatives still owe Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB‑P2) of at least 200 million rupiah. In a joint hearing with the Kutai Barat Regional Revenue Office (Bapenda), three agreements were reached: settle arrears by 30 November 2025, ensure all operational vehicles—including subcontractors—use local license plates, and have companies contribute to repairing roads damaged by palm oil transport.
Implementation of these measures is expected to boost Kutai Barat’s original regional revenue and provide a basis for clearer local regulations. The DPRD emphasized that tax compliance and infrastructure contributions are essential for the region’s fiscal health.
