JAKARTA, 4 November 2025 â The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs confirmed that tariff negotiations between Indonesia and the United States are still ongoing. The talks began in early 2025 after the U.S. Presidentâs official statement on 7 July 2025.
The initial agreement reduced tariffs on selected Indonesian exports from thirtyâtwo percent to nineteen percent. The government is now conducting legal drafting (preparing legal documents) to align all clauses with national regulations and international commitments, ensuring effective and transparent implementation.
Negotiations will resume after the AsiaâPacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit at the end of November 2025, with the aim of securing zeroâtariff rates for key commodities such as palm oil, cocoa and rubber. Officials stress that any deal must bolster domestic industry and protect Indonesiaâs economic interests.
