DJP Deploys AI Arvita to Boost Tax Oversight
December 2, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

Indonesia's tax authority (DJP) has been operating the artificial‑intelligence system Advanced Responsive Virtual Tax Assistant (Arvita) since 2024. The AI tool assists tax officers in monitoring taxpayers.
Arvita can retrieve data on tax potential across sectors, cryptocurrency assets, transfer pricing, and basic tax rules. DJP’s 2024 annual report states that the AI speeds up analysis, reduces information barriers, and improves field efficiency.
The adoption mirrors global trends; the OECD reports that 22.2 % of member jurisdictions use AI for taxpayer interaction, 64.1 % for compliance‑risk assessment, and 74.4 % for fraud detection. For Indonesian taxpayers and officials, this is expected to raise supervision accuracy and service quality.
