October 23, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

On 23 October 2025, the Belawan Customs Office announced the rollout of the Electronic Seal (e‑Seal) system to speed up the transport of export and import cargo. The system installs an electronic tag on each container.
e‑Seal provides real‑time tracking of containers from the origin port to the destination, in line with Director‑General Decision No. KEP‑97/BC/2025 that mandates the technology. The initiative supports the national logistics digital transformation by enhancing transparency and efficiency.
Belawan Customs urges exporters and importers to adjust their business processes and offers technical assistance for a smooth transition. The system is expected to cut violations, accelerate cargo handling and lower paper use and logistics costs.
