US to Meet Indonesian Officials to Discuss Trade Agreement
December 11, 2025 • Ben Asmadeus

The United States government, through the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), will hold a meeting with Indonesian government officials in Washington, D.C. on Thursday 11 December 2025 to discuss a bilateral trade agreement.
USTR official Jamieson Greer urged Indonesia to follow the examples of Malaysia and Cambodia, which have already concluded similar deals, noting that the pact could lower reciprocal import duties from 32% to 19%. Indonesia, however, is reported to have struggled to meet the agreement’s commitments, especially the removal of non‑tariff barriers on US manufactured and agricultural products. The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs says negotiations are ongoing without specific obstacles.
A concluded agreement would boost Indonesian export competitiveness and reduce import costs, while giving the United States broader market access. The talks’ outcome is likely to affect trade flows and may serve as a benchmark for other ASEAN nations.
