Semarang Hotels and Restaurants Yield 33 Billion Rupiah Tax 2024

The Semarang Regency government reported that the hotel and restaurant sector generated tax revenue of 33 billion rupiah in 2024. Of this amount, hotel tax amounted to 11 billion rupiah and restaurant tax exceeded 22 billion rupiah. The contribution forms a significant part of the region’s original revenue (PAD).

Assistant for Economic Development Hendy Lestari noted that tourism plays a key role in strengthening the local economy. The regency currently has 225 officially operating hotels and about 900 restaurants and eateries. The Adhikarya Tourism award assessment, conducted in October 2025, involved tourism certification bodies, academics, and industry players.

The awards were presented to Nuwis Hotel Bandungan, Green Valley Hotel, Dairyland Resto, and Tungku Bumi Bandungan for meeting tourism standards. Bambang Ari Wijanarko, head of the Semarang Hotel and Restaurant Association, urged the government to regularize unlicensed villas and homestays to ensure fair competition. These actions aim to boost tax compliance and the sector’s competitiveness.
