New Duty‑Free Shop in Badung, Bali Positioned as Tourism Magnet

PT Inti Dufree Promosindo officially opened a duty‑free shop in Badung, Bali on 28 Oct 2025. The inauguration was led by I Made Aryana, Head of the Denpasar Customs Office, who highlighted the partnership between the government and private sector. The outlet is aimed at international travelers arriving or transiting through the island’s airports.
Under Director‑General of Customs Regulation No. PER‑01/BC/2018, duty‑free stores are granted exemptions from import duty, Value‑Added Tax (VAT), Luxury Goods Sales Tax (PPnBM) and Import Income Tax Article 22 (PPh 22) for customers who present a passport and boarding pass. Entrepreneurs must apply for a licence from the Directorate of Customs, which reviews documents and conducts a site inspection within 10‑15 business days, with a final decision issued within 10 business days after the inspection.
Denpasar Customs expects the facility to strengthen Bali’s tourism ecosystem and stimulate local economic growth. With strict supervision and transparency, the shop should become a preferred shopping venue for tourists, boosting retail revenue and indirect tax collection. The authorities also presented the Business Identification Number for Excise Goods (NPPBKC) to the company as proof of compliance.
