Finance Minister Purbaya Forecasts 5.5% Household Consumption

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa told a press briefing in Jakarta that household consumption in Indonesia is projected to grow 5.5 % in the fourth quarter of 2025. The outlook exceeds earlier estimates and reflects rising consumer purchasing power.

Retail sales data from Bank Indonesia indicate a marked increase since September 2025, signalling an improving consumption trend. The government has transferred Rp200 trillion to five state‑owned banks (BRI, BNI, Mandiri, BTN, BSI) to strengthen banking liquidity and accelerate credit to the real sector.

Authorities will monitor the effectiveness of the fund placement and are prepared to increase the allocation if economic impact remains insufficient, aiming to sustain national growth.
