Customs and Excise Receipts Reach Rp221.3 Trillion, Up 7.1%

JAKARTA – Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said that customs and excise receipts up to 30 September 2025 amounted to Rp221.3 trillion. The figure represents a 7.1% increase over the same period last year.

The rise was driven by higher export duty (bea keluar) and excise tax, bringing total collections to 73.4% of the 2025 budget target of Rp301.59 trillion. Excise contributed Rp163.3 trillion (66.9% of target), dominated by tobacco excise despite lower cigarette output, while export duty reached Rp21.4 trillion, or 477.8% of its target, due to higher prices of key commodities. Import duty collected Rp36.6 trillion (69.2% of target) fell 4.6% because of lower tariff rates and extensive use of free‑trade agreements with reduced duties.

Overall, customs and excise revenues covered nearly three‑quarters of the fiscal goal, indicating a solid fiscal contribution. The decline in import duty, however, highlights a potential weakness in tariff‑based revenue that could affect future collections.
