Tulungagung County Waives Tax Penalties, Holds Prize Draws

On 15 October 2025, the Tulungagung Regency government in East Java announced a tax‑penalty waiver and two prize‑draw programmes to celebrate its 820th anniversary and the province’s 80th anniversary. The waiver covers penalties for taxes owed in 2025 and earlier years, while the draws run from 1 October 2025. The initiatives target vehicle taxpayers and consumers in the tourism and entertainment sectors.

Regional Revenue Office (Bapenda) head Sukowinarno said the waiver applies to several regional taxes, including specific goods and services tax (PBJT) on hospitality, restaurants, entertainment, parking, advertising, non‑metal minerals, groundwater and land‑and‑building tax (PBB‑P2). The penalty exemption is effective from 1 October to 15 December 2025, but taxpayers must still pay the tax principal via banks, post offices or digital wallets such as OVO and GoPay. The first draw, “Vehicle Tax Lottery”, runs 1 October‑30 November 2025 for owners of AG‑plate vehicles who pay vehicle tax (PKB) on time, offering a motorbike, LED TV, smartphone and mountain bike; the second, “Regional Tax Lottery”, allows restaurant, hotel or entertainment patrons who spend at least Rp100,000 to enter for a chance to win two motorbikes and other prizes.

Officials expect the waiver and lotteries to boost tax compliance and generate additional regional revenue for development projects. The measures also aim to strengthen the relationship between the Tulungagung administration and its residents. The resulting increase in fiscal resources could support public services and local economic growth.
