South Korean lawmaker Cha Gyu‑geun called on tax authorities to take stronger action against non‑compliant YouTubers. He noted that many creators earn more than KRW100 million (about Rp1.16 billion) annually.

Data cited by the parliament shows that 4,011 YouTubers reported earnings above KRW100 million in 2023, a 63.8 % rise from 2021. The total number of taxpayers with YouTube income reached 24,673, up 52 % in two years, and reported revenue grew to KRW1.77 trillion.
