Semarang DPRD Urges City to Boost Retribution Revenue After

On 27 October 2025, the Semarang City Regional House of Representatives asked the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) to raise non‑tax revenue, especially parking fees, after central transfer funds were reduced. The cut in transfer funds is expected to limit the city’s ability to finance public services.
Chairman Kadarlusman argued that the city’s own revenue should not rely solely on property tax (PBB) and urged the municipal government to tap the thousands of parking spots available. Bapenda head Bambang Prihantoro said the agency will install e‑tax devices at hotels, restaurants and conduct regular field inspections to align tax reports with rapid business growth.
Successfully boosting retribusi and digital tax collection could help Semarang balance its budget and maintain service quality despite lower transfers. Experts consider the approach essential for the region’s fiscal stability.
