Removal of Tax IDs for Deceased Individuals Without Heirs

On October 23, 2025, the Directorate General of Taxes announced the removal of tax IDs for individual taxpayers who have died and have no inheritance. The tax identification number will be withdrawn from the official database.
A tax ID (NPWP) is used to record and report a person’s tax obligations. The removal applies when there are no heirs to assume or settle the deceased’s tax rights and duties.
This measure aims to keep the national tax database accurate and avoid administrative burdens on unrelated parties. Deleting unused tax IDs makes the tax system cleaner and more efficient.
