Luhut Commends Treasury’s Rp200 Trillion Deposit into State Banks

On 17 October 2025, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, chair of the National Economic Council, praised Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa for placing Rp200 trillion into the Himbara (state‑owned banks). The transfer was announced at a ceremony marking the first year of the Prabowo‑Gibran administration in Jakarta. The funds had previously been held at Bank Indonesia.

The Rp200 trillion was allocated to five banks: Bank Tabungan Negara received Rp25 trillion, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Negara Indonesia and Bank Mandiri each got Rp55 trillion, and Bank Syariah Indonesia received Rp10 trillion. The move aims to boost market liquidity and stimulate credit expansion amid global uncertainty. Similar fiscal actions were taken at the start of the previous presidential term.

Luhut said the policy represents a sound fiscal strategy that can keep inflation in check while supporting the economy’s projected 5.1‑5.2 % growth. He stressed the need for teamwork and data‑driven decision‑making. The government hopes the measure will help address domestic challenges.
