KPK Soroti Tambang Emas Ilegal di Lombok, Pajak Rp1,08 Trln

The anti‑corruption commission (KPK) uncovered an illegal gold mine near the Mandalika area in Central Lombok that can produce up to 3 kilograms of gold per day. The site is about an hour’s drive from the Mandalika racing circuit.
Task‑force chief Dian Patria said KPK is coordinating with the regional government to optimise tax collection and regional revenue. While KPK cannot yet confirm a corruption crime, it sees possible sector violations such as forestry, environmental or tax offences.
The task force estimates the mine’s turnover at roughly Rp90 billion a month, or about Rp1.08 trillion annually, suggesting state losses could reach trillions of rupiah. Similar illegal sites exist across NTB, including Sekotong and Lantung in Sumbawa, which evade taxes, royalties and other fees.
