Indonesia Joins Push for Indo‑Pacific Economic Growth, Here's Why

Indonesia believes the Indo‑Pacific region will become the main engine of global economic growth. The area accounts for nearly 60 % of the world’s population and generates more than half of global GDP.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said this at the 2025 ASEAN Indo‑Pacific Forum, highlighting Indonesia’s push to improve connectivity, quality education, and economic access for remote areas. He cited initiatives such as free nutritious meals, community schools, and the red‑white cooperative to boost regional competitiveness.
Hartarto stressed that collaboration between government and the private sector is vital to ensure inclusive, sustainable and fair growth. He called on businesses to drive innovation and turn global challenges into opportunities.
