Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa received reports that illegal cigarettes continue to circulate in Lampung Province, especially in Kalianda, Metro, Central Lampung and South Lampung. Similar complaints also came from Kuala Tungkal and Tanjung Jabung Barat in Jambi. The informants said the illegal products are sold in small shops, wholesale stores and large distributors.

Purbaya promptly informed the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) and asked Director General Djaka Budhi Utama to review the cases. Djaka replied that his team is ready to follow up on the reports. The minister stressed the need for swift enforcement to curb the illegal trade.

To facilitate reporting, Purbaya launched the WhatsApp service “Lapor Pak Purbaya”. By 24 October the channel had received 28,390 messages, 14,025 were verified and 437 complaints were prioritized for action.
