Finance Minister Purbaya Rejects Budget for Financial Centre

JAKARTA, October 13, 2025 – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said he has no intention to allocate budget for building a financial centre or family office. The comment was made at a press briefing at the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

He explained that the budget will be directed to existing government priority programmes rather than a financial centre linked to family offices. Purbaya also admitted he does not yet grasp the relevance of a financial centre or family office, despite frequent mentions by the National Economic Council (DEN).

Although DEN, led by Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, continues to propose a special economic zone to host family offices, the plan has not received budget support and remains delayed. This indicates that government funding is not currently being used to attract foreign wealth through family offices.
