ENI Director Sent to Gresik Prosecutor for Failing to Pay VAT

The East Java Tax Office (DJP) handed suspect FA, director of PT ENI, to the Gresik Prosecutor’s Office on 16 October 2025. FA is accused of failing to submit or falsifying VAT (PPN) periodic tax returns.

FA allegedly omitted VAT returns for the period March 2019 to October 2023 and filed false returns for that time. The output tax invoices were used by counterparties as tax credits, but the collected tax was not remitted to the state, causing an estimated loss of Rp2.51 billion. DJP offered FA a chance to disclose the discrepancy before legal action, which was not taken.

If convicted, FA faces imprisonment of six months to six years and a fine of two to four times the unpaid tax. The head of the East Java Tax Office said the case reflects a commitment to law enforcement and fiscal justice. The prosecution aims to deter similar violations and raise tax compliance awareness.
