The East Jakarta Tax Office launched a Taxpayer Charter on 15 October 2025. The event was held at the regional tax office and highlighted the affirmation of taxpayer rights.

Head of the office, Ahmad Djamhari, explained that the charter lists both rights and obligations of taxpayers, stating that taxpayers are not only required to pay, report, and register, but also entitled to services from the tax office. He noted that while these rights are already embedded in tax regulations, consolidating them into a single document aims to strengthen partnership between the tax office and taxpayers. The launch was also attended by Velix Vernando Wanggai, Chair of the Executive Committee for Accelerating Papua’s Special Autonomy Development, who described tax as the “heart” of government and a tool for equity.

A public consultation forum followed the launch, discussing tax aspects of land and building rights transfers, reflecting a move toward greater policy transparency. The charter provides taxpayers in East Jakarta with an official reference of their rights, which is expected to improve compliance and foster a constructive relationship with tax authorities.
