DPR Backs Purbaya’s Drive to Clean Up Tax and Customs Agencies

The House of Representatives (DPR) has voiced its support for Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa’s initiative to cleanse the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of employees involved in misconduct. Commission XI Chair, Mukhamad Misbakhun, emphasized that agencies handling state finances must be free from fraud. He added that staff who cannot be reformed and engage in wrongdoing should be dealt with promptly.

Misbakhun highlighted the WhatsApp reporting channel “Lapor Pak Purbaya” as a reliable avenue for public complaints. To date, the channel has received 15,933 reports, of which 13,285 will be further verified and 2,459 were dismissed as congratulatory or praise messages. He urged the Finance Ministry to establish a dedicated team to screen and act on these submissions.

Purbaya also intends to set up a unit‑management team to validate and respond to each report, ensuring that errant staff are processed constructively. While the effectiveness of this crowd‑reporting system remains uncertain, the DPR praised the move as a positive response to public concerns.
