DJP Lowers 2025 Annual Tax Return Filing Target to 14.5 Million

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance lowered the 2025 annual tax return (SPT) filing target to roughly 14.5 million taxpayers. The announcement was made on 21 October 2025 during a briefing in Jakarta.
The reduction anticipates the rollout of Coretax, the first digital platform for filing annual returns. DGT’s projection considers the addition of taxpayers earning below the Non‑Taxable Income Threshold (PTKP), changes in the number of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) with turnover under IDR 4.8 billion, and a possible rise in Non‑Effective (NE) taxpayers. The figure remains an estimate that may be adjusted as data and filing behavior evolve.
A lower target signals a transition period, prompting DGT to intensify outreach and education so taxpayers can adapt to Coretax. Successful implementation is expected to improve tax compliance and administrative efficiency for both the government and taxpayers.
