California Grants $334 M Tax Credits to 52 Film Projects, Jumanji

The California state government approved film tax credits for 52 productions, including the movie “Jumanji”, under a program announced in summer 2025. Governor Gavin Newsom announced the decision on 24 October 2025.
The total allocation is $334 million, with “Jumanji” receiving $43.9 million. Officials estimate the productions will generate $1.4 billion in economic activity and create about 8,900 jobs for actors and crew and more than 46,000 extras. The expansion follows the 2023 writers‑and‑actors strike and the 2025 Southern California wildfires.
The incentive aims to keep California competitive as a primary filming location, supporting the creative economy and addressing industry pressures from labor disputes and natural disasters. Successful implementation could attract further production investment and sustain employment in the entertainment sector.
