BGN Says Rp10,000 Is Enough for Chicken and Egg in Free

Deputy head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S Deyang, said that a budget of Rp10,000 is enough to provide chicken and egg as side dishes for each free nutritious meal (MBG). She made the comment on Thursday, 16 October 2025, citing President Prabowo Subianto’s own calculation.

BGN has instructed every Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) to prepare two types of side dishes for each MBG portion and to prohibit any markup on the purchase of ingredients. The government reports that, as of 3 October 2025, MBG spending reached only Rp20.6 trillion out of an allocated Rp71 trillion. An earlier request for an additional Rp100 trillion was later withdrawn.

Nanik stressed that the MBG program is not a business but a sign of President Prabowo’s care for Indonesian children, urging all parties to preserve the program’s integrity. She called on nutritionists, accountants and SPPG heads to remind each other and keep the menu standards.
