Airfare for Christmas 2025–2026 with 6% VAT Discount

The government will cover a 6% VAT on airline tickets for the 2025‑2026 Christmas season. Purchases are allowed from 22 Oct 2025 to 10 Jan 2026. The discount applies to flights departing between 22 Dec 2025 and 10 Jan 2026.

Regulation PMK No.71/2025 stipulates that the VAT subsidy applies to tickets bought within that window. VAT is calculated only on the base fare, fuel surcharge, extra baggage and seat selection, excluding airport tax. For example, a Rp1.35 million Jakarta‑Surabaya ticket results in Rp60 000 VAT from the passenger and Rp72 000 covered by the government.

The measure reduces passenger tax from 12% to 5%, making tickets cheaper. It aims to boost air travel demand during the year‑end holiday period.
